Burning a hole
So I finally conviced my grandmother to let me do some of her house work every week. But she insists on paying me. What should I do with this extra $20? Options: Go to the movies with my man Save it up for the wedding (that I can’t technically plan for yet) Buy Grandma a real vacuum and a mop from this century All are good options, but prob going with two or three.

Coupon Sunday
I didn’t get a lot for free today, but I did get a lot of cheap stuff. Walgreens: 4 bottles of Garnier hair gel, one bottle of Garnier shampoo, one bottle of Garnier conditioner, one bottle of Wet Synergy lube, four assorted candy bars (to even up the item to coupon ratio) = $17.19, $2.19 after Register Rewards Walmart: 3 bottles of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, two apples and dip packages...

Good decisions, bad decisions
Bad decision: Going to work even though I see the swirly, migrainey spots while I brush my teeth. Good decision: Chocolate-peanut butter protein bar for breakfast. Why do I think these are so good? Because they were 16 cents a piece. Bad decision: Crawl around on the floor, lift heavy coats above my head, bend over for dropped clothing. Good decision: Leave work when I realize the left side of...

Gonna get some Sh*t for free today!
Hopefully to include: Cat food. ( I don’t have a cat, but always welcome at the gparents’ house or the local shelter) Shave gel Dip ( $.09, close enough) Internet lied. And there’s always the chance of stumbling upon that hidden sale!

Want-to's and Have-to's
I want to: Lay in the sun and finish The Unbearable Lightness of Being. (Not happening since the bright sunshiny day outside is only a cover for a chillingly cold January wind.) Start a new crafty craft project. (Which will only add to the clutter in my house.) Make Forrest Gump jokes with Bill. (Always a favorite pasttime of ours.) See my nieces, who are growing up way too fast without me....

A Sales Sign of the Times →
Since I work at a competing store, I decided to click on this article about JC Penney’s decision to change their sales strategy. I am kind of floored. And confused. Basically, they’re doing away with weekly and monthly sales. Starting soon they’ll be depending on a storewide price cut to at least 40% off to draw in customers to their (often times shabby) stores. The holiday...

Bye-Bye TV. Maybe.
For a couple of months, I’ve toyed with the idea of axing my cable subscription. Since my provider has gotten glitchy and I spend more time looking for something to watch than actually watching anything, it seems like a good plan. Plus, that’s almost $40 a month back in my pocket. And when is the last time there’s been something worth while to watch. I mean, The Big Bang Theory...

Wired.
It has always been hard for me to fall asleep the night before I know I have to be up early in the morning. I start thinking about how I have to go to bed early and I’m not tired and how I don’t want to be groggy and useless the next morning. All of it is in my head. And knowing this, I still can’t tell myself that putting in a movie at 10pm when I have to be up at 4am is a...

Got a new computer
So when I have anything to say, I’ll start posting again. Just to give you a taste, posts are likely to contain: Bill DIY projects I’m itching to get into Attempts to get back into my pants from last year Whining about my job Bill Musings on graduate school Random quotes from tv and movies I love to watch And maybe if you’re lucky, some creative syllables of my own...

True Lies
Without cash today so I had to head over to the Target down the block for my soda fix. (The addiction is back and I’m not sure when I’ll kick it again.) The girl at the check out saw my name tag and asked if I liked working at (department store). My automatic response was “Yeah, I love it.” I put on my work voice and smiled my work smile. I told her how much fun it was and...

I F*%KING love coupons.
I know, all I’ve posted about is coupons lately. But it’s my new hobby. And the only reason I’m ever on this dinosaur of a PC is to look at coupon websites. And the biggest reason I love coupons: I just walked out of Walmart (the most devastating store to anyone’s wallet) with $1.05 I didn’t have when I walked in. It’s amazing what one can do with a few pieces...

This couponing deal has officially gotten out of...
I found out I could possibly MAKE money at Walmart (without having to submit to being their bitch). And now I’m itching to be in line in the cleaning aisle with all the rest of those couponing crazies waiting for midnight to strike so I can pick up my item that will make me $.03. In other news, I did spend about $60 today and saved about as much. Unluckily, some of my coupons had expired...

It's ALIVE!
Since my own poor laptop is still sitting in the floor of the living room, writhing in virus agony, I borrowed my parents’ old desktop for a while. The thing smells like it’s melting, takes five minutes to pull up most webpages and growls like a while animal, but it’ll do until I can afford a new one. Which, at this rate, may be never. But for now, I’m back.

Combo Order
Gonna go bullet points to catch up on some things before I have to go kill my computer. Another virus has attacked and once again taken all my icons, programs and junk and hidden them. Luckily, was able to hit the IE icon before this one went wild. Calling around tomorrow to price fixing it. Or at least getting my shit back so I can go buy a new one. Court Date has been set for Bill’s...

Today is Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday.
Sometimes I think Thursday afternoons are the best hours of the week. I get to think about all the plans I have for the weekend, imagine how much fun it will all be. Then I remember that I have one full day of work left. But I’m going to enjoy this afternoon anyway. Dinner is defrosting. Christmas plans are percolating. The weather is amazing and a walk is definitely going to happen with...

I take it all back.
Tuesdays can still stick it up its nonexistent ziggy with a wa-wa brush. (10 points if you can name that movie.) While enjoying the wonders of the internets by surfing websites like a crackhead with ADHD, my computer gets all “whoa, dude, I’m not feeling so well” and slowing waaaaayyyy down. “Maybe you just need to reboot, kid? Haven’t done that in a while.” I...

Today is a great Tuesday
Strange. Tuesdays are never good. But this one started out great. Extra great. Then free breakfast at Chick-fil-a. Score for the couponer. Work, blah, work, blah blah, customers. Now I’m home, watching my fave canceled sitcom (Friends) waiting for Bill to get home. Today is the last day of recording for The Throbbing Testicles’ second full length album, and I have never been so...

Coupons Sunday
There were no actual coupon inserts in our local papers today, but I still scooped up some pretty good deals anyway. Gerber infant finger foods between $.34 and $1.25 each. Skintimate and Edge shave gels for $1.44 each. Head & Shoulders for $2.42. Lysol Disinfecting Wipes for $1.00 a bottle. Old Spice Deodorant for $.50 each. Secret Deodorant for $.50 each. Hamburger Helper for $.69...

(Not so) Super Couponing
After getting inspired by the ladies and gentlemen on TLC’s viral show, I decided that couponing on a much smaller scale would help Bill and I make ends meet. Sadly there were no coupon inserts in the local papers today, but I still managed to find a few good deals. After an hour of coupon printing last night and a hour scoping out the ads this morning, this is what I found: Gerber infant...

True Story
I just applied for a second job. Yup, the first one just wasn’t good enough for me. Being all cheap and junk, they’ve cut our hours and so I need more moneys. Anyone just feel like giving me some?

Ironic (In the Alanis Morrisette sense)
As we are driving to Oklahoma.
Bill: I got new windshield wipers, too.
Me: Good, you needed them.
Bill: Yeah, not that we'll see any rain anyway.
Twelve hours later.
Me: Was that thunder?
Bill: (to the window) Yup.
Not all that amusing or ironic, just a way to say that we did indeed make it to Oklahoma safe and sound. We're staying 20 miles away from the city we're meant to be in, but that's okay. They caught Shiloh's murderer yesterday about 4pm and that made the drive in much less dour. We have one last court date for custody today; the services for the Oklahoma family will be tomorrow.
If anyone is interested in giving supporting the Justice For Shiloh cause (as it's been known on Twitter) please message me for details. There is a bank account to place donations into nationwide.

A call to Midwest Tumblrs. →
This is a link to a KOCO.com news article describing the shooting death of Bill’s sister. Her boyfriend fled the scene after he emptied a six-round revolver into her neck and chest, leaving a 7 year-old, a 3 year-old, and a 7 week-old orphaned. I’m hoping that some of you live in the Seminole/Pauls Valley area, Oklahoma may know where this man is or may have seen him. Please, if you...

I didn't go running today.
There’s two reasons for this. I’m sore from yesterday. In the usual places: quads, calves, etc. And in unusual places: obliques. Tragedy struck this afternoon. Bill’s sister was killed. Since that part of the family is in another state, he left almost immediately, and I’ve been waiting around for details most of the day. I’m kind of in shock actually. Without much...

What a short, strange road it's been.
Haven’t written in a while. Because I don’t have much of interest to say. Because I’m not online much anymore. Because I generally forget any post-worthy stuff before I can get back to a computer. So, let’s update, shall we? Bill and I have been together for two and a half months. We’re regularly overusing the “L” word. And meaning it. There has been...

Raise and Raise again.
So the end of year reviews were just given out at work. I managed only a six cent pay increase. Not what I was hoping for, but I couldn’t complain too much since some of my coworkers were facing pay-cuts. That all changed today, though. I finally got to talk to the boss long enough for him to tell me I got the promotion we’d talked about two or three weeks ago. This is a much bigger...

One more step towards being a grown up
I bought a new dining room table. Got a great deal. Holly will always be a part of my dining experience now, though, since she decided to write her name on it.
